I made one extra portions from yesterday:  the spiced salt tofu , this time I want to make one of my favourite sauces:  ‘ satay sauce‘ !

Half of my work done already from yesterday, now I only need to prepare the yummy yummy satay sauce, and a little bit of cutting vegetables. Just simple as that, job done! :p

Lots of people have their own way to make their  signature ‘satay sauce’, so am I.  I am not the one to be different, this time I added a little bit extra ingredients in it to add more flavour.  Wish my family and you to like it! 🙂

Crispy Spiced Salt Tofu Skewer with Satay Sauce  (素沙爹醬)

Ingredient: 

For the ‘satay sauce’:

  • 1/4 cup Vegetable oil
  • 3 tsp Curry powder
  • 2 tsp Kurma powder
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Ground coriander
  • 4 tbsp Crunchy peanut butter
  • 3 to 4 tbsp Coconut milk
  • 3 tsp Palm sugar or Raw brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp Tamarind paste
  • 1 cup Water

Method: 

  1. Heat oil in a hot saucepan or wok over low heat, saute curry powder, kurma powder, ground cumin and ground coriander until fragrant.
  2. Add peanut butter, coconut milk and palm sugar, soy sauce, lemon juice,  tarmarind paste and water, stir fry for 3 to 4  minutes.
  3. If the sauce turn to thinner, can add ( 1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water, mix to form paste like ), to thicken the sauce. Otherwise, the sauce will be done. But remember to test the taste for yourself.
  4. Let the sauce cool down and keep into a airtight and clean jar, chill in the fridge for later to use.
  5. Serve with vegetable skewers.

Note: 

  • You have lots of choices to make your vegetables skewer:   cubed aubergine/eggplant, cubed courgette/zucchini, cubed sweet potato, cubed onion, cherry tomato, cubed pineapple and apple as well, it’s all up to you. 
  • The sauce can use as dipping sauce for barbecue food, or even for the soup noodle.
  • The sauce can keep in the fridge for over two week.

    • Thank’s that you like it. The sauce play an important part as well, but remember sprinkle cornstarch over the tofu before bake in the oven, don’t make the same mistake just like me, hehehe!
