Baked Kale Chips ~ Low-fat, Low-salt 低油,低鹽

Baked Kale Chips

OMG! I can’t believe that I can bake the kale chips so easily. It won’t take not much time, I have my kale chips after 30 minutes of cleaning the kale to serve! And it is so light and crispier than you can imagine!

Besides, I just use a few spritzes of some olive oil and liquid salt over it, and that’s enough seasoning for me. Or, if you prefer to have more flavouring, you can sprinkle some smoke paprika for a spicy kick.

What a healthy and delicious snack to enjoy, I can guess you will substitute all the potato crisps to this kale chips straight away.

Bake Kale Chips

Ingredient: 

  • 200g Kale, Chopped, stalks removed
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil or Olive oil spray
  • Pinch of Pink Himalayas Sea Salt or Liquid Salt spray with spicy paprika

Method: 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C/160°C (fan oven), or gas mark 4.
  • Wash the kale, remove the tough stalk and drain it. Better to use a salad spinner to spin dry the kale if you have one.
  • Line a piece of foil on a baking tray, spread the kale on it, sprinkle the olive oil to the kale evenly, or use your hands to mix evenly. I use olive oil spray.
  • Bake in the hot oven, middle shelf for 8 minutes first, and move to bottom shelf for another 8 minutes until crisps, remove the baking tray out and scatter the sea salt to the kale, or spray the liquid salt onto the kale if you have.
  • Off heat and keep the kale in the oven and shut the oven door for 5 minutes to get it crispier, and so bring the baking tray out, allow it cool down completely and store in an airtight glass jar.

Note: 

  • Keep the kale in the oven after finishing time to make it more crispy, it is only my experience. If your kale chips are dry and crispy enough after the total baking time, you can take the chips out and cool on the room temperature.
  • If your oven is not big enough to bake all the kale in one go, spread it into two portions for another bake.
