Homemade Sriracha Hot Sauce (是拉差辣椒醬~微辣)

 

It is no doubt that Sriracha hot sauce and the Sriracha sweet chilli sauce are the most popular hot sauce on the market.

Sriracha is frequently used as a dipping sauce, particularly for seafood. In Vietnamese cuisine, it appears as a condiment for noodles, or as a dipping sauce for spring rolls. 

Also, use in soup and burgers or flavoured in stir-fry. I made my homemade pizza with this sauce instead of the tomato sauce as well. Or replace the pesto sauce with the pasta. Have you try it before? Please, tell me what would you make with it?

This time I made this hot sauce, is from what I have in my cupboard. Definitely cook from scratch!

It is smooth and amazingly delicious. This homemade sauce is sweet and just light spicy. It is kind to your body with just the right amount of heat and kick. The red jalapeno quantity reduced to ony one-quarter. I use some chopped-up sun-dried tomato to fill the full amount heat. If you haven’t got the sun-dried tomato, you can use the pickle red pepper instead. That’s why I said my hot sauce is made from scratch.  🙂

I know some of you prefer more fire, I mean the hot level! It is all up to your choice, honestly!

Just customize of all chilli, sugar and vinegar for yourself. Personally, my body only can copes of little extra kick of heat.

For those non-vegetarian, just feel free to put extra fish sauce to replace the soy sauce.

All the ingredients come together beautifully to harmonize the flavour of this hot sauce. Also, I wish you’ll customize your own Sriracha hot sauce soon.

 

Homemade Sriracha Hot Sauce (是拉差辣椒醬~微辣)

Ingredient: 

  • 200g Red Jalapeno      (I use 80g jalapeno and 120g sun-dried tomato)
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled       (I didn’t use it)
  • 1 tbsp Coconut sugar or any unrefined brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Pink Sea salt
  • 1 tbsp Light Soy sauce
  • 80 ml Distilled white vinegar

Method: 

  1. Place the red jalapenos, sugar and salt in a food processor with garlic (if you use it). Pulse until fine. Stopping to scrape sides of bowl as necessary.
  2. Pour into a saucepan over low heat. Let sauce come to a simmer. Add vinegar and sugar, adjust the taste for more or less.
  3. Continue simmering for about 2 to 3 minutes. Because it is a small quantity, it will be longer time if you double up the recipe).
  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a clean and sterilized jar, and let it sit at room temperature.

Note:

  • There has another alternative way to achieve this hot sauce. Absolutely easy for you. Just put everything in a blender, blend until smooth. That is it! 🙂
